Federal agents reportedly searched Hayden Panettiere’s West Hollywood residence on August 25—nine days after the actress died suddenly at age 36.

A witness told Us Weekly that more than six agents entered the building with a warrant. Authorities have not publicly revealed which agency executed the search, what investigators were seeking or whether anything was removed.

Panettiere was found unresponsive at a residence in Greenville, South Carolina, on August 16. Emergency responders attempted to revive her before she was pronounced dead.

An autopsy reportedly found no visible injuries or trauma. Officials also said preliminary findings showed no evidence of foul play or suspicious circumstances. Her official cause and manner of death remain undetermined while toxicology testing and additional studies continue.

The Drug Enforcement Administration has reportedly become involved in the wider investigation, but authorities have not confirmed that an overdose caused Panettiere’s death.

Her representative has urged the public to avoid speculation, saying there is “more to this story” and that those closest to the actress are cooperating with investigators.

The search of her California residence has created new questions, but it does not mean Hayden—or anyone connected to her—has been accused of a crime.

Until authorities release further information, the purpose of the warrant and the circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear.
